Expect mounted knights thundering across the field on their noble coursers, the thwack of arrows and axes finding their targets, and the ring of a blacksmith’s hammer drifting somewhere past the merchant stalls. ✨ Why This One’s Worth a Trip to Caledonia
Ontario has no shortage of renaissance faires every summer, but this one comes with a bit of a backstory. It’s organized by the same crew behind the Niagara Renaissance Faire — the folks responsible for the jousting, the birds of prey, and the medieval encampment that Niagara Falls visitors have come to expect every May. This September, they’re bringing that same lineup south to the Caledonia Fairgrounds for the first time.
What that means in practice: an event run by people who’ve already worked out the kinks of putting on a faire, landing in a small-town fairgrounds setting that’s easy to reach and easy to park near. Caledonia isn’t a big-city destination, which is exactly the charm — it’s the kind of fair where you can actually get close enough to the blacksmith’s forge to feel the heat.
And because it spans two full days, there’s no need to cram everything into one rushed afternoon. Catch the jousting on Friday, come back Saturday for the parts you missed.
🏻 What to Expect on the Grounds
Both days run the same 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. window, with the full run of activities, performers, and vendors available throughout. Here’s what fills the field.
Knights & Combat
Knights, Coursers & the Ranger Rumble
Armoured knights and their noble coursers clash in feats of sword and skill, and there are stirring contests on horseback to watch from the sidelines. If you’d rather take part than spectate, the “Ranger Rumble” gives you a chance to test your own mettle.
Skills & Crafts
Archery, Axe Throwing, Birds of Prey & the Blacksmith
Try your hand at archery and axe throwing, marvel at birds of prey in flight, and watch a working blacksmith ply his trade at the forge. Wander through a full medieval encampment set up to give a feel for life on campaign.
Music & Performance
Aerialist Kai, MacLeod the Bard & Live Bands
Aerialist Kai in Wonderland brings the lofty, acrobatic spectacle, MacLeod the Bard plays sweet airs on the lute, and the bands Thunder Glove and Whiskey Business keep the music going throughout the grounds. Expect roaming entertainment between the main acts, too.
Marketplace
Merchants, Crafters & Artisans
Browse stalls of merchants, crafters, readers, and skilled artisans set up between the activity areas — the kind of market that rewards a slow lap rather than a quick walk-through.

🍗 Feast & the Tavern
No renaissance faire is complete without a proper feast, and this one delivers the basics well: roast pig and mighty turkey legs lead the charge, with a wider spread of fair food meant to feel fit for lords and ladies rather than just festival snacks.
🍺 A dedicated Tavern area is set apart from the family-friendly grounds and reserved for guests 19 years and older. It’s a nice way to split the day — let the kids run wild near the encampment while the grown-ups grab a drink somewhere quieter.
🚗 Getting There
The faire takes place at the Caledonia Fairgrounds, right in downtown Caledonia at 151 Caithness Street East. It’s a compact, walkable site, so once you’re parked nearby you won’t need to move the car again until you leave.

💡 A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Go
👞 Wear shoes you can stand in all day. The fairgrounds are outdoor grass and gravel, and you’ll want to wander between the jousting field, the archery range, and the market without your feet complaining.
☀️ It’s an early-September outdoor event. A hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle go a long way, especially if you’re parked at the jousting rail for a while.
👤 Heading to the Tavern? It’s a 19+ area, so bring photo ID just in case.
📅 Two days, one set of activities. The lineup runs the same both days, so pick whichever day suits your schedule — or come both and take it slower the second time around.
📱 Check the event page closer to the date. A detailed timed schedule of when each show happens hadn’t been posted as of this writing — the Facebook event page is the best place to watch for updates.
