Launched in 1967 for Canada’s Centennial, the Ennismore Shamrock Festival is back for two free days of family entertainment, kids’ activities, local vendors, and the always-popular Truck and Tractor Pull at the Robert E. Young Recreation Complex.

✨ Why This Festival Is Worth the Drive
Ennismore is a small lakeside community just north of Peterborough, and for one weekend every July it punches well above its weight. The Shamrock Festival started in 1967 as part of Canada’s Centennial celebrations, and nearly six decades later it’s still going — which makes it one of the longest-running community festivals in the Peterborough and Kawarthas region.
The whole weekend is built around the Robert E. Young Recreation Complex, a sprawling community park with ball diamonds, soccer pitches, and plenty of open space — exactly the kind of setting a small-town festival needs to spread out and breathe. There’s no admission charge to get in and explore, which is rare for an event with this much history behind it.
Expect a genuinely local feel: family activities and children’s games, food vendors and community booths, an artisan marketplace, and the festival’s signature competitions and events that have become traditions of their own over the decades.

The Township of Selwyn hasn’t released the full hour-by-hour 2026 schedule yet, but here’s what’s confirmed so far for the two days.
Saturday, July 18

The signature event of the weekend. This is a licensed event with food vendors trackside, sanctioned in part by Great Lakes Premiere Pulling (GLPP), and it draws competitors from well beyond Ennismore.

🔧 Pulling this year? Weigh-in and registration runs 10:00–11:30 AM. You must supply your own hitch, all GLPP rules apply, the new sled hook minimum is 3¾” long by 3″ wide, and drones are not permitted on site.

🚗 Getting There & Parking
The festival takes place at the Robert E. Young Recreation Complex, the Township’s largest recreation facility at nearly 42 acres, just off Ennis Road in Ennismore.
Parking: The festival page notes ample on-site parking, making it an easy stop for families driving in from Peterborough or the surrounding Kawarthas.
