Friday, August 21 — 11 AM to 8 PM
Festival opens at Grace Hartman Amphitheater and Bell Park. Day one features the African Costume Parade (bring traditional attire and join the celebration), live stage performances by local and regional artists, face painting booth, vendor exhibition with retail and food vendors, art installations, and family activities. Saturday, August 22 — 11 AM to 8 PM
Day two continues the celebration with more live performances, costume parade participation, face painting, vendors, and family programming. African Costume Parade
The costume parade, introduced in 2022, is a highlight of Afrofest Sudbury. This celebration of African fashion, fabrics, textiles, and patterns gives community members the opportunity to dress in traditional African attire and share their cultural pride.
How to participate: Registration is open at afrofestsudbury.ca/signup.html. Wear your favourite traditional African attire or cultural dress, bring drums or your favourite instrument if you wish, and join the parade to help kick off the festival celebrations. It’s a joyful, inclusive experience celebrating heritage and community.
