โจ Why This Weekend Is Worth the Drive
There’s a particular kind of quiet that settles over a golf fairway when the cars start rolling in โ no engines running, no crowds shouting, just polished chrome catching the light off Georgian Bay. That’s the atmosphere Robert McLeese set out to create when he brought his father’s decades-old vision to life in 2013, and more than a decade later, Cobble Beach has grown into one of the most respected Concours events in Canada.
What sets it apart from a typical car show is the judging. Entries here are grouped into serious historical categories โ Brass Era orphans, pre-war CCCA Full Classics, post-war European sports cars, Pininfarina-designed coachwork, and more โ and evaluated by an internationally sanctioned judging panel. This isn’t a parking lot of nice cars; it’s a curated exhibition where provenance and restoration quality genuinely matter.
And it isn’t just for die-hard collectors. The weekend opens with a scenic Tour d’Elegance through Grey County, a free Cars & Coffee and hot-rod show in downtown Owen Sound, and a pair of automotive history seminars at the historic Roxy Theatre โ all before the main event on Sunday. Add in the fact that the whole weekend has raised more than $1.46 million for the Sunnybrook and Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundations, and a trip up to Grey Bruce starts to feel like more than just a car show.

๐ก A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Go
๐ถ Leave pets at home. The Concours d’Elegance is a pet-free event; only official service animals are permitted on the show field.
๐๏ธ Buy online before Sunday. Gate tickets are available but cost more than early bird online pricing, and popular add-ons like the docent tour and VIP packages have limited availability.
โ Don’t skip Saturday. Cars & Coffee and OBLIVION AVENUE in downtown Owen Sound are free, low-key, and a great warm-up to the main event โ especially if you’re bringing kids.
๐ Wear comfortable shoes. The show field spans an active golf course fairway โ expect a fair bit of walking on grass, sometimes uneven underfoot.
โ๏ธ Pack for any weather. This is a rain-or-shine event with no refunds, so bring layers and rain gear just in case Georgian Bay has other plans.
Every Ticket Supports Local Healthcare ๐
Since its 2013 debut, the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance has raised more than $1.46 million for the Sunnybrook Foundation and the Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation. Ticket proceeds, seminar fees, and preferred parking sales all contribute directly to that total.
