Newmarket Rib & Beer Fest 2026
Smoke in the air, cold beer in your hand, a tribute band cooking up Skynyrd in the background. The Newmarket Ribfest rolls back into the Upper Canada Mall lot from May 29 to 31, 2026 for three days of award-winning BBQ, live music, and the kind of low-key family chaos that defines a great weekend out.
Part of the Northern Heat Rib Series, this is the Newmarket leg of one of Ontario’s biggest BBQ tours. Half a dozen pro Ribbers showing up to compete, seven live bands across the weekend, a People’s Choice contest with a $100 gift card on the line, a beer market sponsored by Budweiser, and a Kids’ Zone to keep the little ones happy while you go back for seconds.

🔥 Why This Festival Is Worth Your Weekend
Look, ribfests are a Canadian summer staple, but they aren’t all created equal. What makes the Newmarket stop work is the format: it’s outdoor, it’s walkable, it’s in a familiar mall lot most locals already know how to find, and admission is genuinely cheap at three bucks. Kids under five are free.
The Northern Heat Rib Series brings six BBQ pit teams into competition with each other — names like Kentucky Smokehouse, Texas Jack’s, Memphis Blazin’, The Forge, BIBBs, and Bubba Lou’s. You can go full sampler-platter mode and try a half-rack from each, then vote in the People’s Choice contest for your favourite ribs and sauce. One ballot pulled at random wins a $100 gift card.
It’s also a fundraiser. The festival supports the Rotary Club of Newmarket and the Osborne Goddard Team, so the money you spend on a beer and a rack of ribs is doing a little bit of good in the community on the way down.
📅 The Weekend Lineup
Three days, seven bands, an absurd amount of pork. Here’s how it shakes out.
Fri · May 29 — 4pm to 11pm
Wicked Truth (5–8pm) · Street Survivors: Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute (9–10:30pm)
Opening night kicks off after work with Wicked Truth doing a high-energy mash-up set, then Street Survivors close out the night with a full Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute. Free Bird at sundown with a beer in your hand — that’s the assignment.
Sat · May 30 — 12pm to 11pm
The Sandra Good Band (1–4pm) · Monty & The Crew (5–8pm) · Just Jovi: Bon Jovi Tribute (9–10:30pm)
The biggest day of the weekend. Eleven hours of grilling, three bands, and the prime window for a long lazy afternoon. Saturday night closes with Just Jovi belting Livin’ on a Prayer, which, frankly, is the only correct way to end a Saturday at a ribfest.
Sun · May 31 — 12pm to 7pm
Little Peter and the Elegants (1–2:30pm) · Otis Wonder & The Hustle (3:30–6:30pm)
Sunday is the family day — earlier finish, lighter vibe. Little Peter and the Elegants kick things off, then Otis Wonder & The Hustle bring soul, funk and Stevie Wonder energy to close out the festival.

🍺 The Beer Market
Sponsored by Budweiser, the on-site Beer Market stocks a full range of Labatt products, Pelee Island wine, Mike’s Hard coolers, Canadian Club mixers, and Black Fly frozen beverages. Buy drink tickets at the ticket tent next to the bar — tickets open when the festival opens.
A few things worth knowing: last call for purchases is one hour before festival closing, and the beer market itself shuts 30 minutes before closing. No refunds on tickets after that, so use what you’ve got. You must be 19+ with valid photo ID to drink, and there are no open beverage containers permitted at the gates.
💡 A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Go
🍖 Sample, don’t commit. Most Ribbers offer half-rack and sample portions. Don’t blow your appetite on the first stand — do a slow walk past all six and pick your top two or three.
⏱️ Saturday afternoon is peak. If you want shorter rib lines, hit Friday after 4pm or Sunday around opening. Saturday between 5pm and 8pm gets busy.
💰 Bring some cash anyway. Most vendors take cards, but lines move faster with cash and there are ATMs on-site if you forget.
🐶 Bringing the dog? Pets are welcome on-leash. Fill out the pet waiver online before you go — saves you a few minutes at the gate.
👧 Sunday is the kid-friendly day. Earlier hours, smaller crowds, and the Kids’ Zone is at full tilt. The afternoon Otis Wonder set runs til 6:30pm so you can roll out before bedtime meltdown territory.
🛒 It’s a mall, remember. Upper Canada Mall is right there if you forget sunscreen, need a washroom break, or want to escape the heat for ten minutes in a Tim Hortons. Use that.
Eat Ribs, Do Good ❤️
A portion of festival proceeds goes to the Rotary Club of Newmarket and the Osborne Goddard Team, supporting community initiatives in York Region. Your $3 admission and every plate of ribs you put away helps fund local programs — it’s the easiest fundraising you’ll do all year.
