Schomberg Agricultural Fair 2026
Every May, downtown Schomberg turns into one big country block party. The Schomberg Agricultural Fair — running Friday May 29 through Sunday May 31, 2026 — is the unofficial kickoff to Ontario’s fair season, and this year marks the 176th edition. The 2026 theme is Hay Bales & Cow Tails.
Picture a demolition derby on Friday night, a parade marching right down Main Street on Saturday morning, an FMX freestyle motocross stunt show, sheep herding demos, 4-H cattle, a Luke Combs tribute concert, magic, a baby show, and a midway buzzing with rides — all happening in a tight, walkable fairgrounds tucked behind a river in the middle of King Township. It’s small-town Ontario at its most charming.

✨ Why This Fair Is Worth Your Weekend
The Schomberg Fair has been going since 1850. That’s not a typo — 176 consecutive years. Long before Toronto sprawled north, before Highway 400 existed, this fair was already a fixture. There aren’t many places in Ontario where you can show up to something that’s been happening since before Confederation.
What makes it stand out from the dozens of other agricultural fairs in the province is its location. Most country fairs feel a little out of the way — this one sits right in the middle of downtown Schomberg, separated from Main Street by a small river. You can walk to the parade, walk to the midway, walk to the demolition derby, all without moving your car.
And it’s the official season opener — the first fair on the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies calendar each year. Locals plan their May long weekend around it. If you’ve never been, 2026 is a great year to fix that.

Three days, three very different moods. Friday is loud and crashy. Saturday is the big day with the parade and the headliner concert. Sunday is family day — animals, magic, and a more relaxed pace.

Gates Open 5:00pm · Demolition Derby 7:00pm
The fair kicks off Friday evening with the Albion Amusements midway lighting up, the beer tent open at the Derby Pit, and then the main event: the Demolition Derby at 7pm. It’s been the Friday tradition here since the 1970s — a Schomberg ritual. Bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise.

Gates 9am · Parade 11am · Opening Ceremonies 12pm
Saturday is the marquee day. The Grand Parade rolls down Main Street at 11am — tractors, pipe and drum bands, floats, the whole works. Free to watch from the sidewalk. After that, the fairgrounds fill up: Homecraft Hall opens, Bavarian Garden pours its first pints, and live music starts on the stage.

Sunday is the day to bring the kids and the camera. It opens with the Beef & Junior Beef Show at 9:30am at the Show Ring and the Rabbit & Cavy Show at 10am.
Morning into afternoon: Aaron Matthews magic show at 10:30am · 4-H Dairy Cattle Show at 11am · Doo Doo the Clown at 11am · Family Fun Events at 11:30am · ProRider FMX freestyle motocross at 11:30am and 2:30pm.

Saturday night, 8pm on the Main Stage. The headline ticket of the weekend. Country tribute act doing the Luke Combs catalogue — expect a packed crowd and a loud singalong.
ProRider FMX Freestyle Motocross
Sunday at 11:30am and 2:30pm. ProRiderFMX’s first stunt show of the 2026 season — backflips and big air on dirt bikes. Genuinely thrilling to watch live.
The Demolition Derby
Friday at 7pm. A Schomberg institution since the 1970s. There’s something about cars smashing into cars on a warm May evening that draws a crowd every single year.
The Magic of Aaron Matthews
Sunday at 10:30am. Aaron has been doing magic since he was four and has performed for Lady Gaga and YTV. A great kid-friendly way to start Sunday.
Doo Doo the Clown
Three appearances over the weekend. Doo Doo has been performing for 29+ years and is a fair-circuit favourite — the kind of clown act that actually makes adults laugh too.
Sheep Herding & Livestock Shows
Sheep dog demos Saturday afternoon (3:30pm and 4pm). 4-H Junior Dairy Cattle Show and Junior Beef Cattle Show on Sunday. This is where you see the “agricultural” in agricultural fair.
Homecraft Hall
Open Saturday and Sunday in the Community Hall. Needlework, photography, baking, horticulture, antique sock-knitting machines — the whole spectrum of rural craft tradition under one roof. Awards Sunday at 3pm.
💡 A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Go
💵 Bring cash. Admission is at the gate and not all vendors take cards. A few twenties saves you from looking for an ATM mid-fair.
🎠 Get to the parade early. 11am Saturday on Main Street. Locals stake out spots about 30–45 minutes ahead with lawn chairs. Worth doing.
🚗 Park at Brownsville Junction Plaza. Main fairgrounds parking fills up fast, especially Saturday. The plaza is a short walk away and far easier to get in and out of.
🌞 Layer up — especially Friday night. Late May can swing 25°C during the day and 8°C after sunset. The demolition derby gets chilly once the sun drops behind the trees.
👪 Bringing little kids? Sunday is the better day. Quieter crowds, the magic show, the baby show, the pet show, the FMX stunt show, and admission is cheaper. Friday night derby is loud — bring ear protection if you go.
🍱 Eat at the fair. Multiple food vendors throughout the grounds — burgers, fries, hot dogs, candy floss, mini-donuts. The whole point is to graze your way through.

The fairgrounds sit at 319 Main Street, Schomberg, Ontario — right at the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 9, just west of Highway 400. Roughly 50 minutes north of downtown Toronto and a comfortable day trip from anywhere in the GTA.
