The Toronto Dragon Festival celebrates centuries of Chinese cultural heritage while stepping boldly into the future. Presented by the Canadian Association of Chinese Performing Arts, this year’s edition transforms Nathan Phillips Square into a destination where ancient dragon dances, gravity-defying acrobatics, and multicultural artistry meet cutting-edge technology.
The centerpiece is the Toronto debut of Chaoshan Yingge Dance, one of China’s most dynamic living intangible cultural heritage performances. Expect warriors moving to thunderous rhythms and powerful choreography that blends storytelling and festive tradition.
Beyond the main stage, the weekend brings a multicultural lineup celebrating Indigenous, South Asian, Caribbean, and European communities, a fashion runway of Canadian-made and traditional designs, Asian street food, and — new for 2026 — an AI Innovation Showcase featuring smart glasses, AI watches, robotics, and robot dogs. It’s Toronto’s most kaleidoscopic free cultural celebration, and completely free to attend.

Friday, September 4 · 11am – 11pm
Festival opens. Performances begin on the main stage, food vendors and cultural booths open, and interactive experiences including the AI Innovation Showcase are available all day.
Saturday, September 5 · 11am – 11pm
Full day of performances: high-pole lion dances, dragon dances, and Chaoshan Yingge Dance, alongside the multicultural lineup. Fashion runway during the day, Luminati Night Light Show in the evening.
Sunday, September 6 · 11am – 9pm
Final day of programming, closing performances, and the Reflection Water Show. Last chance to explore vendors, sample Asian street food, and try the AI Innovation Showcase.

🚗 Getting There
Nathan Phillips Square sits in the heart of downtown Toronto, right in front of City Hall, and is easy to reach without a car.
TTC: Queen Street streetcars (501, 503) stop right at the square. Queen, Osgoode, and St. Andrew subway stations are all a short walk away.
Parking: Street parking is limited downtown on a busy weekend — nearby paid lots and garages are the more reliable option.
