โจ Why This Fair Is Worth the Trip
The Uxbridge-Scott Agricultural Society’s roots go back to 1862, and the fair it runs today at Elgin Park has become one of the more reliable September traditions in North Durham Region โ close enough to Toronto to draw a crowd, still small-town enough to keep its focus on crops, crafts, and traditional farm animals.
2026 is a milestone year for one specific part of the fair: the Local Tractor Pull turns 50. It’s technically a separate, independently organized event held the Thursday night before the fair opens, with admission by donation and proceeds going back to support the pull โ worth building into your weekend if you’re a fan of watching tractors dig in.
Once the fair proper opens Friday, the schedule fills fast: a Saturday-night Demolition Derby, Sunday’s Heavy Horse Show and SuperDogs performances, birds of prey demonstrations, a Celebrate Agriculture Tent with hands-on farm education, and a rotating cast of family entertainers doing everything from beatboxing to Highland dancing. It’s the kind of fair where you can watch a dairy cattle show in the morning and a demolition derby by evening.

๐ก A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Go
๐๏ธ Check the day-by-day pricing before you plan. Saturday costs more than Friday or Sunday โ if budget matters, an early-Friday or Sunday visit is cheaper.
๐ Leave the backpack at home. They’re not allowed in on foot; drivers will be asked to leave them in the car. Clear stadium bags are fine.
๐ Take the free shuttle Friday or Saturday night. On-site parking is limited to the Elgin Park Drive entrance, and the shuttle beats fighting for a spot.
๐ฅ Arrive early for the Demolition Derby. Saturday’s 7:00 PM derby is one of the fair’s biggest draws.
๐ Don’t miss the 50th Local Tractor Pull. It’s a separate, by-donation event held the Thursday night before the fair officially opens.
