✨ Why VELD Still Owns the Long Weekend
VELD has been the anchor of Toronto’s summer dance calendar since 2012, and it hasn’t lost the plot. It is the biggest electronic festival in the country by some distance, it runs on the Civic Holiday weekend so nobody has to book Monday off, and it plants itself on a 2.4-square-kilometre former airfield in the middle of the city.
The 2026 booking is a real one. Armin van Buuren and Charlotte de Witte on the same Friday is a strange and excellent pairing. Above & Beyond return on Saturday off the back of a major tour, with Illenium and ARTBAT alongside them. And then Sunday: Kx5, the deadmau5 and Kaskade project, playing deadmau5’s own festival in his own city. That’s the ticket people will be talking about.
Beyond the mainstage, the spread is genuinely wide — Subtronics and Ray Volpe for the bass crowd, Sara Landry and Lilly Palmer for techno heads, MAU P and FISHER pushing tech house, Lost Frequencies and Galantis for anyone who just wants to sing along. And the ferris wheel is still there, still the best photo you’ll take all weekend.
🎧 The Daily Lineup
Gates open at 2 PM each day and the music runs to 11 PM. Individual set times and stage assignments drop closer to the weekend through the official VELD app — this is the artist-by-day breakdown as it currently stands.

🎟️ Tickets & Passes
Everything is sold through Front Gate Tickets, and it’s capped at eight tickets per person. Wristbands must be registered before you can get through the gate, and tickets aren’t transferable — so don’t buy from a stranger on Kijiji.
3-Day GA
The full weekend, all three days, all stages. The best value if you’re coming for more than one headliner.
3-Day VIP · 19+
Dedicated entry lane, premium viewing areas, private bars and washrooms. You must be 19+ to enter VIP.
Single-Day Passes
Friday, Saturday or Sunday sold separately, if there’s only one night you can’t miss.
Lockers
Single-day and full-weekend rentals with a built-in universal phone charger. Weekend lockers can be left loaded overnight.
📮 Mail cutoff: the last date to buy a ticket and still get the wristband shipped to you is July 22. After that, pick up at the box office in front of the main gates — it opens at 1 PM daily.

🎡 More Than the Mainstage
VELD spreads across multiple stages — a mainstage plus the long-running Bass Stage for dubstep and riddim and the Sirkus Stage for techno — with activations, food vendors and the festival’s signature ferris wheel scattered between them. Downsview Park is enormous, so wear shoes you can walk in.
👗 Theme Days
VELD has announced an official theme for each of the three days. It’s entirely optional — a reason to push the fit, not a dress code. Check the theme days page for this year’s three.
📱 The VELD app
Where set times, the site map and food options actually live. Download it before you arrive and turn notifications on.
🌙 Afterparties
Music on site stops at 11 PM, but INK runs an official afterparty programme across Toronto venues each night of the weekend.
Accessibility
Mobility-device accessible, with a dedicated entry line, a dedicated viewing area, and washrooms with assigned security.

General admission is all-ages. VIP, the beer service and the cannabis consumption area are all 19+ with government photo ID.

Best For
EDM fans · trance, techno and bass heads · big-production chasers · anyone with a Line 1 subway card
🎒 Bags, Security & What You Can Bring
Security screening is airport-style — pockets emptied, bags searched, pat-downs, sometimes shoes off. Read this before you pack, because the bag rules are strict and there’s no bag check for rejected items.
✅ Bags you can bring
Clear bags up to 12″ × 6″ × 12″ Small clutches up to 6″ × 9″ One-gallon clear freezer bags Medically necessary bags Fanny packs Empty water bottles & CamelBaks Cream sunscreen Totems on pool-noodle or PVC poles
🚫 Leave at home
Backpacks of any kind Outside food & drink Aerosol / spray sunscreen DSLR / detachable-lens cameras Selfie sticks & GoPro poles Chairs, blankets, umbrellas Refillable-chamber vapes Glass, cans & coolers Eye drops & OTC meds Face-covering masks Drones Pets (service animals excepted)
💊 Prescription meds: original unexpired container, label matching your photo ID, one day’s supply. Check in at the external medical area before the gate. Naloxone kits are welcome — keep them factory sealed and flag them to security.
🚗 Getting There
The festival gates are on Carl Hall Road at Downsview Park. This is the rare big festival where transit genuinely beats driving — and on a long weekend with 40,000-odd people leaving at once, it isn’t close.
🚇 TTC subway (do this): Line 1 to Downsview Park Station, then a roughly 10-minute walk west along Sheppard Avenue to the Festival Terrace. The main entrance gates are on Carl Hall Road.
🚆 GO Transit: Downsview Park Station is on the Barrie line, so it works for northbound and southbound trips. Plan on gotransit.com.
🚙 Driving: From downtown, DVP north to the 401 west, exit Allen Road, north to Sheppard Avenue, left to Tuscan Gate. From the north, 400 south to the 401 east, exit Keele, north to Sheppard, right to Tuscan Gate. From Pearson, 409 to the 401 east, same Keele exit. Expect a long crawl out at 11 PM.

💡 A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Go
🎒 The backpack ban is real. This is the single most common reason people get turned around at the gate. Fanny pack or a clear bag under 12″ × 6″ × 12″, nothing more. Rent a locker if you need to carry more.
🧴 Cream sunscreen, not spray. Aerosol is banned and it’s a July afternoon on an open airfield with almost no shade. Apply before you leave and bring a cream stick.
💧 Bring an empty bottle or CamelBak. Empty on entry, filled inside for free. Three days on a hot field will cost you a fortune otherwise.
💳 Test your tap before you go. Cashless means cashless. If your card doesn’t tap, you’ll be stuck buying a pre-paid Visa in a line instead of watching a set.
👟 Wear real shoes. Downsview Park is 2.4 square kilometres and the stages are spread out. If you’re bouncing between the mainstage and the techno stage all night, sandals will end you.
❓ Common Questions
When is VELD 2026 and what time do gates open?
Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Downsview Park, over the Civic Holiday long weekend. Gates open at 2 PM each day, the box office opens at 1 PM, and the show ends at 11 PM.
Who’s headlining?
Friday leans on Armin van Buuren, FISHER, Charlotte de Witte and Subtronics. Saturday brings Above & Beyond, Illenium, ARTBAT and Galantis. Sunday closes with the Kx5 reunion — deadmau5 and Kaskade — plus SLANDER, MAU P and James Hype.
How do I get there?
Take TTC Line 1 to Downsview Park Station and walk about 10 minutes west along Sheppard Avenue to the main gates on Carl Hall Road. The station also serves the Barrie GO line. VELD is one of very few major electronic festivals sitting directly on a subway line — use it.
Is VELD cashless?
Yes, entirely. Credit and debit with tap enabled only, for food, drinks and merch. A limited number of pre-paid Visas can be bought on site with cash, but grabbing one in advance saves you a queue. You can’t load your wristband with money.
Can I bring a backpack?
No — backpacks of any kind are strictly prohibited. Permitted: clear bags up to 12″ × 6″ × 12″, small clutches up to 6″ × 9″, one-gallon clear freezer bags, and medically necessary bags screened at the gate.
Can I leave and come back?
No. There are no in-and-out privileges. Once you leave the grounds on a given day, you won’t be readmitted that day.
Details may change — always confirm on the official VELD Music Festival website before heading out.
