For one weekend every June, the whole of downtown Orangeville turns into a stage. Streets close to traffic, the parks fill with sound, and the pubs and patios hum with live music from lunchtime well into the night. The Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival is back for its 22nd year, running Friday June 5 to Sunday June 7, 2026 — and it is one of those rare festivals that manages to feel both big and genuinely small-town at the same time.

Picture this: over 40 acts spread across multiple stages, a Friday-night cruise of 250-plus classic cars rolling down Broadway, a Sunday motorcycle rally, free workshops at the library, a farmers market, a New Orleans-style jazz march, and headliners that include Juno winners and one of Canada’s finest jazz vocalists. Most of it costs nothing. The bit that does is a bargain.

💡 You only need a ticket for the TD Main Stage (Alexandra Park) and the Opera House — and one ticket gets you into both all weekend. Everything else, from the street stages to the car cruise to the workshops, is completely free.

If you have driven through Orangeville on a quiet weekday, the festival version of the town comes as a happy shock. Broadway and Mill Street close to cars, the sidewalks fill up, and there is music coming from what feels like every corner — a proper stage in the park, a smaller one near Wellington, bands popping up between the shops, and the historic Opera House hosting more intimate sets inside Town Hall.

It has earned its reputation, too. The festival has been named one of Festivals & Events Ontario’s Top 100 for 13 years running, and it was recently ranked among the best blues festivals in the country. Founder and Artistic Director Larry Kurtz has built the 2026 lineup around Canadian talent in particular — over 40 acts, with a real emphasis on home-grown blues and jazz.

But the thing people actually remember is the feel of it. It is run by a non-profit and powered by volunteers, the prices are deliberately low, and a huge share of the programming is free. 💡 A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Go

🎫 Buy the weekend pass in advance. At $40 for all three days across both ticketed venues, it’s the best value — and buying ahead guarantees entry. Single-day tickets are also available.

👪 Bring the kids. Youths 16 and under get into the ticketed venues free, and the street stages, car cruise and bike rally are a hit with families.

🚌 Use the free shuttle. Downtown streets close to traffic, so park once and ride the free local bus and shuttle service that runs all weekend.

🍺 Come thirsty — sustainably. There’s a free water refill station on 2nd Street, so pack a reusable bottle. Saturday’s 60-plus food vendors will sort out lunch.
