This is JAMFest — and June 5 to 7, 2026 marks the festival’s sweet sixteen.

Three days, multiple stages tucked between the village’s 19th-century buildings, and 20-plus bands rolling through everything from 50s rock and roll and blues to funk, soul, jazz and big-band swing. ✨ Why JAMFest Is Worth the Trip

JAMFest has been a fixture in Durham Region for a long time. It started life as the Pickering Village Jazz Festival and became JAMFest in 2011, broadening from jazz into the wide, danceable mix of genres it’s known for now. Sixteen years in, it’s become one of those rare community events that locals quietly guard and out-of-towners are always glad they discovered.

The setting does a lot of the work. Pickering Village dates back to 1807, and you’re hearing live music in front of buildings with real history — the 1881 Gordon House, a circa-1890 building that once hid rum runners, the original village doctor’s house with its metal-spired cupolas. It’s a street festival with genuine character, not a parking-lot stage.

And then there’s the simple math of it: free admission, family-friendly, walkable, and packed with good food. You can come for an hour or stay all evening, bring the kids or bring your dad, and it costs nothing to walk in. That’s a hard combination to beat on a June weekend.

JAMFest takes over Old Kingston Road in Pickering Village, Ajax — the historic stretch between Elizabeth St. and Linton Ave. Note the road is closed to traffic during the festival, so plan to park nearby on side streets and walk in.

💡 A Few Things Worth Knowing

🍔 Bring cash. Admission is free, but the food trucks and vendors are the whole point of grazing your way down the street. Some take cards, but cash keeps the lines moving.

👪 Saturday is the full experience. With music running noon to 11pm, it’s the day to settle in. Friday is the easy after-work warm-up; Sunday is the relaxed family wind-down.
